milk and spicesIf you haven’t heard of the trendy “Golden Milk,” why not whip up a batch? Start with 1 teaspoon turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 3 cups coconut milk, and1/8 teaspoon black pepper. Shake it up with enough honey to suit your taste buds. Golden milk is best consumed within 24 hours of mixing for maximum antioxidant benefits. You can also add a pinch of turmeric into your salad dressing or soup as an easy way to reap the anti-inflammatory benefits of this spice.

It’s recommended that you combine turmeric with piperine, a black pepper compound, for maximum absorption. The enzymes in the stomach, intestines, and liver can metabolize most of the curcumin found in turmeric, and piperine will help boost the absorption. Notice the addition of pepper to the golden milk recipe. If you’re cooking with turmeric and adding in black pepper, it’s a significant enhancement.
