We are grieving along with our community following the tragedy on July 4th. Our hearts are with the families, friends, and neighbors who lost their loved ones and those who experienced this senseless act of violence. These horrific events have touched us all, and as we move through our grief and sadness, we take comfort in the strength and resolve of our community. Sunset Foods has called Highland Park our home for eighty-five years and, we trust in our neighbors pulling together to support one another.

“The Lauri S. Bauer Foundation for Sudden Loss, based in Deerfield, has helped thousands of children and their families cope with grief and sudden loss. Our licensed clinical social workers are specifically trained to deal with loss and meet with clients both one on one and in a group setting. Over 80% of our patients come from Deerfield, Highland Park and surrounding communities and over 70% of all patients pay less than $10 per visit. Last year alone we provided over 2,000 in-person or telehealth sessions to grieving children and their families. We know the trauma that children and their families experienced yesterday and we are offering our professional assistance any way we can. Our therapists are ready to meet with individuals or in a group setting to help start the healing process. In fact we already have a few groups we are meeting with in Highland Park.”
