- Unloaders (Service Clerk)
Sunset tries to promote from within to fill all management positions including those for Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager. Full-time employees are entitled to many

These definitions explain the general duties and responsibilities
of the different positions within the Sunset organization.
General Clerk
There are General Clerks in almost every area of the store. As their
name implies, they do many things, usually within one department.
General clerks stock products and assist customers in purchasing
them. For instance, a General Clerk in the Fish Department places
the fish in the case and then weighs and wraps them for customers.
Grocery Department General Clerks price products, stock them on
the shelves of the grocery aisles and answers customer inquiries.
Cashiers are also classified as General Clerks. Cashiers total
customer purchases by the register, handles currency and charge
payments. They may also assist in other areas of the store, if needed.
Coordinating Clerk
A Coordinating Clerk is essentially the leader of a department.
Coordinating Clerks write schedules for other employees, settle
customer complaints and oversee the stocking and checking performed
by General and Service Clerks.
Service Clerk
Service Clerks unload merchandise that customers are buying or they
may bag merchandise after it is rung up. They may also carry, load
or deliver groceries. Some Service clerks weigh food, like in the
Produce area. Other prepare food to be stocked. For example, Service
Clerks in the Produce area may wash, cut and wrap specially packaged
fruits and vegetables or replenish the salad bar.
Office Clerk
Each store has a back office where financial activities are performed.
Office Clerks issue drawers to the Cashiers and record financial
information. They may also answer phones, sell postage stamps and
maintain employment forms, accident reports and office supplies.
