mission statement

Sunset Foods is a neighborhood supermarket dedicated to providing the finest customer service. We are small enough to get to know you and large enough to stock an outstanding selection of food, liquor, floral and other items at competitive prices. Our friendly, competent staff work hard to make shopping at our stores a pleasurable experience.

history

Family owned since the doors opened in 1937, Sunset Foods continues to be a privately owned company. The original store was located in Highland Park comprising only 25' x 30' of space. Today, Sunset has four locations with additional stores in Northbrook, Lake Forest and Libertyville that employ approximately 900 employees. The managing directors of the company are Mr. John E. Cortesi, Mr. Richard Cortesi and Mr. Ron Cizzon.

community service

The owners place a premium on giving back to the communities we serve. Supporting local organizations is an integral part of the company's overall business philosophy. Sunset supports nearly 300 local organizations each year by participating in fund raising activities, sponsoring a variety of events and making monetary donations.

customer service

The number one reason our customers shop with us is "the service". And, our reputation is well earned. In addition to helpful store employees who emulate our "People are Friendlier Around Sunset" brand, we reach out to our customers by loading their groceries, publishing a quarterly magazine for them, providing complimentary cooking and nutrition classes and offering to special order products that are not on the shelf.

products

Sunset carries a wide variety of foods including many ethnic brands and specialty health and organic foods. Our Meat and Fish Departments offer the finest cuts and our Produce Department carries the freshest assortment of seasonal fruits and vegetables. A popular stop for busy moms and professionals, our Deli is chock full of pre-cooked meals, exotic salads and other tasty dishes.
